Get to Know Me
Although I had many small injuries throughout my dance career, I never utilized physical therapy until I had food surgery. I worked with a PTA on regaining strength and mobility afterwards which helped me return to the stage without complications. My time recovering was full of doubt, but I always felt supported by my therapist. I decided to become a PTA to give the same empathy, compassion, and motivation to patients recovering.
I hope patients will be able to share the “wins” with me throughout their recovery. Being proud of an accomplishment, whether big or small, can help keep you motivated during therapy. Celebrating using the stairs for the first time makes returning to your favorite hobby even more special because it shows how far you’ve come on your journey!
Exercise is something that you should be excited about! Pick an activity that makes you want to get up and move your body. That could mean yoga, pickleball, or walking your dog around the neighborhood. If an injury is holding you back from enjoying these activities, that is where we as therapists can help guide your recovery with a personalized approach.
